Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla on Wednesday stated that a request has been made to the Ministry of DoNER for cleaning of Loktak lake. The Loktak lake is considered to be the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India. It is famous for the phumdis floating over it.
Speaking to the press, Najma Heptulla stated that various activities like water skating, boat race, para sailing after the lake is cleaned.
The Governor further informed that the Ministry of DoNER has been requested for cleaning the lake water and that the Water Resources ministry should take care of it. The Governor also mentioned about introduction of treatment plant to enable the Loktak lake clean.
