A surreal picture of the majestic snow-capped Himalayan peak as seen from a village in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district is catching widespread attention on social media.

The picture which has been taken from the terrace of a house in Singhwahini village was shared by Ritu Jaiswal, Mukhiya of the Gram Panchayat in Singhwahini on Twitter.

Jaiswal claimed the mountain peak that she has seen from the terrace of her house is Mt. Everest.

She also said she could get a ‘darshan’ of the ‘real Himalaya’ for the first time in her life from her own village.

“I can see Mt. Everest from the terrace of my house at Singhawahini village in Sitamarhi district. Nature is balancing itself,” Jaiswal tweeted in Hindi.

“The hills near the Nepal border are often visible after rain but this is the first time that I got a ‘darshan’ of the real Himalayas from my own village,” she added.

Although many Twitter users expressed their amazement by looking at the beautiful picture, a section of the users questioned the authenticity of the claim made by Jaiswal.

When a user asked Jaiswal how she could confirm the picture of the peak, she explained the geographical position of the village and claimed that people, who grew up in the village, could see the mountain in their childhood in the 80s.

According to Google Maps, the distance between Sitamarhi district and Mt. Everest is 205 km and the aerial distance is 194 km.

It has been reported that with the nationwide lockdown in place in view of coronavirus, India has continued to breathe easy as pollution level in 88 cities across the country remained minimal.

Out of the 103 cities where air quality was recorded, 23 registered ‘good’ air quality while 65 others recorded satisfactory air quality, according to the data from the Central Pollution Control Board.
