Assam Pollution Control Board has served show cause notices to around 900 industries across Kamrup district for non-compliance of pollution control norms.
They have failed to meet the standards for removing the pollutants from the effluent before it is discharged.

The High Court under section 375/2012 WP (C) has issued show cause notices to these industry bodies, as per the complaint of Pollution Control Board of Assam.
The industry bodies include Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Premium Cryogenics Limited, Gorchuk’s Guwahati Carbon Limited, Balaji Industries in Bamunimaidam, Hotel Shivam Palace in Ganeshguri, Shiv Polimer in 14 Mile, and so on, have to respond within 15 days.
If they fail, they would cease to operate under the court’s jurisdiction. The list also includes tea factories and health care bodies.

The court has also directed the board to wind up the matter within the stipulated period of 6 months.
