The Manas Maozigendri Ecotourism Society is a vibrant community based organization in the field of conservation and ecotourism.

It was formally established on December 13, 2003 by local leaders and well wishers of Koklabari Mouza in Baksa district of BTAD region in Assam.

They launched Mouzigendri Movement of Conservation for the revival of Manas National Park.

In 1992, UNESCO declared Manas as a World Heritage Site in danger due to heavy poaching and terrorist activities.

Their dedication towards the conservation movement urged UNESCO to remove Manas from the List of World Heritage in Danger on June 21, 2011 and was commended for its efforts in preservation.

In India, Van Mahotsav 2018 is going to be observed for one week commencing from July 1 to July 7 next. In this connection, MMES have been giving away around one lakh numbers of saplings to the fringe villagers, school and college students since June 25 so that they can plant trees at different places of their respective areas within the Van Mahotsav 2018.

More than 10,000 various local plants including guava, jam, amlokhi (olives), bokul, ashok, jackfruit, mehogoni, tezpat (bay leaves), chandon (sandal), poma, lethuku, jolophai, etc are being distributed by the organization each day.

There are huge expectations of outcome from this campaign. People will be aware of environmental degradation, the organization feels.

Large numbers of illiterate people residing at different fringe villages of Manas will give more importance to save the trees which will lead them towards the sustainable development through their good health, agricultural as well as economical and environmental goodness, the organization feels.
