Adding another feather to its cap, the centurion town of Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh was on Tuesday declared open defecation free (ODF) by the Pasighat Municipal Council.
Pasighat has become the second town in the state to be declared as open defecation free (ODF).

Tawang was the first to be declared ODF in the year 2017.
PMC administrator and East Siang deputy commissioner Dr Kinny Singh expressed her happiness over the achievement.
She stated that it was a herculean task to achieve the status and the same has come after a long exercise under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).

Singh also added that eradicating open defecation is part of SBM, which aims to make India open defecation free by October 2019.
She extended her gratitude to PMC and all the stakeholders of the town for strengthening the hands of the urban body.
The DC at the same time assured that there would be no compromise in hygiene and cleanliness once the tag has been awarded.
Pasighat has also been chosen for the Smart City project along with Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh.
