The Aalo Forest Division in the West Siang district headquarters in Arunachal Pradesh launched a plantation drive called Green Walk, on Sunday.
West Siang Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan, and Heads of all Departments planted saplings of 40 ornamental plants, including Gulmohar and Ashoka.

They planted the saplings along the road leading to the second Arunachal Pradesh Police Battalion headquarters. The plantation drive started from Government Higher Secondary School, Aalo.
“This initiative of the Forest division is a good step towards preserving the aesthetics of the town and will go a long way in improving the urban landscape,” Sachan said. She stressed the need for such cooperation among different departments ‘to achieve better goals in future.’
Divisional Forest Officer Abhinav Kumar informed that the ‘Green walk’ would be an annual event featuring avenue plantation in the urban centres of the district.

“Officials will be deputed to take care of the saplings until they bloom into trees,” the DFO said.
