Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who earns $37.7 million per year, also has a costly bodyguard.

Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera, who is virtually a shadow of the superstar, has been serving Khan for the last 25 years since 1995.

Shera, who belongs to a Sikh family, was born as Gurmeet Singh.

According to reports, he was interested in his father’s workshop than going to pursue education.

His passion for gym and physical fitness won him the Mr. Mumbai title and stood second in Mr. Maharashtra event.

Due to his physique, he got a job at Wizcraft which handled the protection details of Bollywood bigwigs.

For the first time, Shera met Salman Khan in 1995 at a party held for Hollywood star Keanu Reeves.

But after an incident that took place during a show of Salman Khan in Chandigarh, the crowd was out of control and Salman was mobbed.

After the incident, Salman’s brother Sohail Khan wanted a big and strong bodyguard for the superstar.

A media report quoted Sohail as asking Shera: “Bhai ke saath hamesha rahoge (Will you always stay with my brother)?” and the reply was “Yes”.

Since then, Shera, who addresses Salman Khan as “Maalik” (Master), has been protecting Salman Khan.

Shera says: “Maalik is everything to me. I will lay down my life for him. He is my god.”

Salman Khan wisely pays Shera, has also been jailed a number of times as he clashed with people while trying to protect his ‘Maalik’.

The superstar dedicated his film ‘Bodyguard’ to Shera.

According to reports, Shera gets a salary of Rs. 15 lakh per month, which translates to Rs. 2 crore annually.

Shera also gets paid when he is called to arrange security for international stars who visit India.

This remuneration also runs into lakhs, say media reports.
