Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor could not fulfil the last wish of his father Rishi Kapoor, who had passed away in Mumbai on Thursday.

As per reports, an old interview of the veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has come to light after his demise on Thursday.

In an interview with Mid-Day in 2018, Rishi Kapoor had revealed that he had wanted his son to get married and play with his grandchildren before his death.

“It is high time he got married. I settled down when I was 27, Ranbir is 35. So he should think about marriage. He can marry anyone of his choice, we don’t have any objection to it. I want to spend time with my grandchildren before I am gone,” Rishi Kapoor had said in the interview.

Meanwhile, the last rites of Rishi Kapoor were performed by his son Ranbir at the Chandanwadi Crematorium in Mumbai on Thursday.

Some family members and close friends of the actor attended his funeral amid the nationwide lockdown.

The veteran actor had passed away after fighting a two-year-long battle against cancer.

Rishi Kapoor’s family said that he would like to be remembered with a ‘smile and not with tears’ after his death.

“Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukaemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last,” his family said in a statement.

“He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him,” it added.

“He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears,” it added.
