IIT Guwahati will host its annual cultural fest Alcheringa, from February 1, 2018. The four-day cultural extravaganza will be held at the Indian Institute of Technology campus, Guwahati.

The 22nd edition of Alcheringa will feature a number of events ranging from musical concerts, literary activities, food festivals, fashion shows etc. A number of artists from the country and around the world are scheduled to perform in front of the enthusiastic crowds.

The annual cultural event also takes up various social issues plaguing the society. The institute launched their initiative ‘Bachpan’ in 2011 to children with little to no resources achieve their dreams.

Under the initiative named ‘Udaan’, the students from the educational institute reach out to children from the underprivileged section of the society and motivate them to fight for their hopes and dreams with the help of documentaries, presentation, games etc.

This year, ‘Udaan’ has also taken up the initiative of delivering greetings from the children to soldiers serving our country in the unheard corners of India.

The students of the institute, through the cultural experience of the fest also aim to promote the shared identity of the people and showcase the diverse and rich culture experience of the northeast.
