The seventh edition of Jeevan Kite and River Festival will start from January 4 this year. The preparation for the five-day festival is underway. Kites have been brought from various international kite festivals as well as hundreds are being made here locally.

The Jeevan Kite and River Festival is being organized at the riverbank behind Sonaram Field, Guwahati. It is considered to be Northeast’s biggest beach festival.

Some of the attractions at the festival will be adventure sports, flea market and food fest, aero-modeling shows, contests, workshops, discussions, craft, boat gallery, photo studio, riverside film screen, puppet theatre, river cruise and a lot more.

People will float earthen lamps and release sky-lanterns to pay tribute to the river, during the festival. There will be traditional and modern cultural performances at the festival.

The festival is a part of the Brahmaputra Campaign for clean riverbanks. A roundtable discussion on the potential of the riverbanks will be held during the festival. The organizers are transforming a garbage dumping ground into an aesthetic riverbank to hold the festival.
