Sushant Singh Rajput

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday said that it is in the process of registering a case to probe the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput and is also in touch with the Bihar Police.

โ€œAfter getting the notification from the Central government, CBI is in the process of registration of the case,โ€ a CBI spokesperson said.

The development comes a day after the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued a notification, paving the way for the central investigative agency to register a case.

Sushant was found dead in his flat in Mumbaiโ€™s Bandra on June 14. On Tuesday, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar recommended a CBI probe on the request of Sushantโ€™s father K.K. Singh.

Many political leaders have also called for a CBI probe into Sushantโ€™s death.

On Singhโ€™s complaint, the Bihar Police registered a case against Sushantโ€™s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty on July 25.

Sushantโ€™s father had lodged an FIR against Rhea in Patna, accusing her of cheating and threatening his son.

The actorโ€™s family has also accused her of keeping him away from them.
