Guwahati: In a major achievement for the whole of Northeast, a film — ‘Sangi Gai’ from Arunachal Pradesh will be screened at Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival-2024.
The festival is happening from May 14 to 23, 2024 and will showcase selected films from around the globe.

Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu took to X and congratulated the team of ‘Sangi Gai’.
He wrote, “I’m so happy to learn that @nfdcindia has selected Arunachali film ‘Sangi Gai’ to be showcased at Marché du Film during Cannes Film Festival-2024 in France.”
“A moment of great pride for us. Kudos to Producer Alison Welly Bakha, Creative Producer Hali Welly and Director Nyago Ete for bringing rare laurels to the state. Best wishes!” Khandu added.

The film is directed by Nyago Ete and produced by Allison Welly Bakha, and the movie has garnered acclaim for its authentic portrayal and unique storytelling.
The producer of the film Bakha has attributed the film’s success to the director Nyago Ete’s vision and the raw talent of the cast.
The movie tells the story of Tamar, a native of Sangi-Gai village, who finds an exotic chest while searching for his lost brother Tamey, which expatriates him to the land of strangers in the obscured future, disrupting his current time of the year 1914.
