Tripura University has been ranked at 31st position out of all government-run universities across the country in a survey conducted by Marketing & Development Research Associates (MDRA) and India Today.
In 2014 and 2016 Tripura University had ranked 43rd and 39th respectively.
This was the fifth such survey conducted by the India Today-MDRA, which has earned a reputation among the academic fraternity of the country.
Even Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar went on record stating that the India Today-MDRA survey has earned its name because it is done with ‘credibility, transparency and with definite criteria’.
India Today while publishing the result of the survey asserted that, ‘for objective ranking MDRA has carefully chosen more than 120 attributes to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparison of universities.’
It further stated that these performance indicators were clubbed into five broad parameters – ‘reputation and governance, academic and research excellence, infrastructure and living experience, personality and leadership development and career progression and placement’.
The India Today-MDRA further asserted that they consulted experts with ‘rich experience in their fields to frame the parameters’.
Perceptual survey was carried out among 318 well-informed respondents who included 23 Vice Chancellors/ Pro-Vice-Chancellors, 96 Directors/Deans/Registrar/ 199 Senior Faculty/ HODs.
Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Delhi and University of Hyderabad were ranked first and second and third in the ranking.
