Guwahati: Owing to the loss of studies due to the Lok Sabha polls and heat waves which resulted in the closure of educational institutes, the state government has decided to cancel the 26-day summer vacation for colleges, professional colleges and technical institutes so that they can take the syllabus for semester exams.
According to officials, the state has already lost two weeks of classes in colleges and it would be increasingly difficult to cover the syllabus if summer break is allowed in higher education.
