The proud students with their parents

As many as 50 meritorious students from across the state of Sikkim has been selected to undergo higher education in reputed public schools within and outside the State under the Chief Minister’s Meritorious Scholarship Scheme (CMMSS).

On Wednesday, these selected students attended a counselling and allotment of seats programme at Modern Secondary School in Gangtok.

The 50 selected students and their parents attended the counselling session organized by State Human Resource Development Department.

Among them, Karma Chultim Bhutia, Aisha Pradhan and Nensang Lepcha were ranked the top three positions in the merit of their performance in the entrance examination conducted for the CMMSS held earlier in December last year.

Eleven years old Karma Chultim Bhutia from Namok JHS in North Sikkim who has been selected to study at the prestigious Scindia Boys School in Gwalior of Madhya Pradesh,  during interaction with the media, thank the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Pawan Chamling for facilitating them with such an ambitious scholarship.

“I will do my best to shine as a good student and become a proud citizen of the State and the country in the future,” said Karma adding that he dreams to become an engineer.

Aisha Pradhan from Sonamati Memorial SSS, Khamdong in East Sikkim who came second in the selection test has been selected to study at Scindia Kanya Vidhyalaya in Gwalior.

Her father who is a farmer said this is indeed a dream come true and hoped that her daughter would keep the prestige and honour of the home state wherever she studies.

Ranked third in the selection test, 12-year-old Nensang Lepcha from Saffo Salim Pakyel JHS in North Sikkim has been selected to study at Pinegrove School in Himachal Pradesh.
