A mega scholarship examination was conducted on Sunday across 10 districts in Manipur to select the top 150 Candidates to be sponsored under Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Civil Services Aspirants.

The examination was conducted by Alternative Learning System, (ALS) a Delhi based premier institution established with the sole aim to initiate, enable and empower individuals to grow up to be extraordinary civil servant, in association with Government of Manipur.

More than 2000 IAS Aspirants participated in the Exam in the districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Chandel, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Jiribam, Tamenglong and  Ukhrul, DIPR Manipur sources said.The Exam was supervised by the Deputy Commissioners of each district along with the appointed Nodal Officers.

This examination has created an opportunity for 450 talented, needy and deserving IAS talents of Manipur to avail of 450 Scholarship (150 to be sponsored by Government of Manipur under Chief Ministers Scholarship Scheme for Civil Service Aspirants) and (300 Scholarships to be sponsored by ALS under CSR initiative for Youth of Manipur), the source added.

The results of the examination will be generated on June 23 and selected students will be trained from July 1 by best IAS mentors from Delhi at six ALS authorized learning centres in Imphal, Churachandpur, Senapati, Motbung, Tamenglong and Ukhrul.

It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Civil Services Aspirants was launched in March this year to provide the much-needed support to those deserving and meritorious students of the state by earmarking Rs one crore. The scheme plans to provide at least 150 civil services aspirants will be provided 100 per cent scholarship under the scheme.
