Imphal: During a graduation ceremony held at the Manipur government-run Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, (JNIMS) Imphal, a total of 150 students from the 2018–19 batches were conferred with degrees as well as medals on Saturday (May 4).
Vice Chancellor of the Manipur University Prof N Lokendro who was the chief guest of the function distributed the certificates, awards, and medals to the students.

Of these graduated medical students, 100 students belong to the MBBS and 50 BDS.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that the service to humanity should be the top priority for medical professionals.
JNIMS Director, Prof L Deven while speaking as the guest of the honour said that since the establishment of this medical institute, a total of 800 MBBS, 141 BDS, and 200 Post Graduates were produced.

At present, this institute has 150 seats for the MBBS course with the lowest amount (around Rs 3 lakh) in its full courses.
As a medical institute, many international, national, and regional seminars and workshops have been organized from time to time with the publishing of many scientific journals at this institute.
Saturday’s graduation ceremony was organized under the theme “It is not where you start but how high your aim that matters for success.”
The JNIMS is a premier state-funded medical college and hospital located in Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur.
It was established in 1989 as Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital, commonly referred to as JN Hospital.
It has 576 beds which include 526 teaching beds and 50 non-teaching beds and the institute has 22 departments.
