The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati is organising Northeast’s first virtual design fest from September 20 to 27.
ISHANYA 2020, the annual design show, organized by the department of design, IIT Guwahati is having its first virtual edition as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic which has prohibited any social gatherings to take place, said a statement released by the organizers.
This, however, has been presented as an opportunity for the design students of IIT Guwahati and moulded a new dimension of interaction which is currently hosting students from all the top design institutions of India, they said.
The premiering event featured a panel discussion by the greatest design educators of contemporary India—Biswajit Saha (Skill and Training Director, CBSE), Phani Tetali (HOD, IDC, IIT Bombay), Praveen Nahar (Director, NID Ahmedabad) and Shekhar Mukherjee (Director, NID Vijayawada).
Various events lined-up throughout the week and is packed by some of India’s greatest design leaders including Dr. Udaya Kumar (Designer of the Rupee Symbol), Jay Dutta (Design Head of the Aarogya Setu App) and Susmita Mohanty (Spaceship Designer).
Ishanya, as a fest, is driven by the motto of expanding the ripples of design thinking amongst the youth and encouraging the creative collective to persevere in the different domains of design.
