A 40-member team of Gauhati University is going to participate in the National Inter University Youth Festival to be held at Ranchi University from February 16 to 20, 2018.
The GU cultural team will participate in folk orchestra, folk dance, mime, skit, western vocal solo, western instrumental solo, western group song, elocution, debate, quiz, mimicry, classical vocal solo & installation.
In may be mentioned that first three winners in the five different zonal inter university youth Festival from the whole country will get opportunity to participate in the National Inter University Youth Festival for competitions in 26 different events.
GU bagged 17 individual and group prizes and overall runners up in the last East Zone Inter University Youth Festival held at GU.
Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University, Dr Mridul Hazarika wishing the team all the luck said that students would be able to get a good platform for showcasing their talents in a national level festival and hoped that it will build national integration and unity for the country.
Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati, Director, Students’ Welfare, GU said that students should come forward to take this opportunity to expose their hidden talents in such a big national level competitions and further hoped that it would be a medium of cultural exchange to broaden their perspectives and build up their confidence to face the larger issues of life.
The team has been formed from different affiliated colleges under GU and few students from PG classes.
The team will lead by Dr Kakati and Kuldeep Patgiri of Gauhati University.
