Barakha Gogoi was selected among the top 15 outstanding Science projects in 25th National Children’s Science Congress, 2017. The National Children’s Science Congress is a programme of NCSTC, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

The programme was held at Science City, Ahmedabad from December 27-31.

Gogoi is a class VII student from Assam Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Chabua, Dibrugarh. She was selected along with her co-workers Angshuman Dutta, Jintu Gogoi, Mrinmoy Gogoi and Gitawali Gogoi. The project was ‘Innovation of a study unit for differently-abled person’ under the guidance of Jituprasad Gogoi.

Out of 638 projects presented in the National level including projects from Gulf and ASEAN countries 51 projects were shortlisted for second phase and out of those only 15 projects were chosen as outstanding for 2017.

There were 26 child scientists from Assam at the event where 6 projects were in second phase and only Barakha’s project found aplace in the coveted list.

She is the daughter of Ajoy Gogoi and Rupjyoti Gogoi of Amguri Murhani Village, Chabua. The Dibrugarh District Organizing Committee congratulated Barakha her team, guide and one of her mentor Garima Dutta for bringing glory to the State and the District.
