The Nagaland Board of Secondary Education (NBSE) has reduced syllabi of different subjects of Classes X, XI and XII for the academic session 2020 by 20-30% for conducting the final examinations.
The decision was announced by the NBSE to reduce the workload of the students and compensate for the lost teaching days due to the COVID19 pandemic.
The chapters/topics that are removed from the syllabus are given on the board’s website www.nbsenagaland.com.
The reduction is applicable for this academic session 2020 only, the board said.
It has enclosed the revised mark distribution unit/chapter wise, the design of the question paper subject-wise along with the internal assessment areas and guidelines on its website.
The board said whatever activities, whether external or internal, the schools do, must be recorded.
The internal mark of the students too must be recorded and kept properly, it said.
NBSE chairman Asano Sekhose has asked all heads of institutions to inform the teachers and the students about the changes.
The board said every school should continue to guide and help the students in every possible way.
The students should be encouraged to keep in touch with their textbooks while home works, assignments and projects which can be done at home should be given out at regular intervals.
There should be regular assessment/test to check on the students learning outcomes, the board said.
“In the midst of all these unprecedented situations, we have to move forward with new initiatives to cope with the new challenges.
“This can be made possible only through education by revisiting the existing system and making it relevant,” it added.
