The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has decided not to hold the HS first year examination this year in view of the coronavirus outbreak.
All the students of HS first year in approximately 1,500 AHSEC-affiliated colleges and higher secondary schools will be promoted to HS second year.

AHSEC chairman Dayananda Borgohain said that a decision regarding not to hold the examination was taken in a meeting of the AHSEC academic council.
“The AHSEC will, however, announce it formally on April 10, as it involves certain formalities,” Assam Tribune quoted Borgohain as saying.
The HS first year examination, scheduled from March 25 to April 10, was deferred by the council in view of the current situation.

The AHSEC is also mulling over a plan to introduce e-books and to help the students follow their syllabus.
The council also working on a plan to upload the course content on the AHSEC website and launch YouTube tutorials so that students do not have to suffer because of the loss of academic days.
