Guwahati: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on May 13, announced the results of the 2026 Class 12 board examinations for more than 18 lakh students across the country.
Students who appeared for the Senior School Certificate examinations can now check their scores through the official CBSE websites, DigiLocker, and the UMANG app.
To access the results, candidates must enter their roll number, school number, admit card ID, and date of birth. Due to heavy traffic on the official websites after the result declaration, some students experienced slow response.
To ensure smoother access, CBSE has also provided alternative options through IVRS and SMS services.
Students can download digital marksheets from DigiLocker, which will be valid for college admissions and scholarship applications. However, original certificates and final marksheets will be issued later through schools.
This year, the overall pass percentage stands at 85.20%, lower than last yearโs 87.98%, marking one of the lowest results in recent years. Over 18.5 lakh students from Science, Commerce, and Arts streams appeared for the examinations held between February 17 and April 10.
This year, female students recorded a pass percentage of 88.86%, while male students achieved 82.13%, indicating a clear performance gap in favour of girls.
Over the past five years, girls have consistently outperformed boys in the CBSE Class 12 examinations. The trend shows that female pass rates have remained higher each year, reflecting a sustained pattern in board results.
Among regions, Trivandrum emerged as the top-performing zone with a pass percentage of 95.62%, followed by Chennai at 93.84% and Bengaluru at 93.19%. Delhi East and Delhi West also performed well, while Prayagraj recorded the lowest pass percentage at 72.43%.
CBSE also introduced a major change in the evaluation process this year by adopting a digital on-screen marking system for Class 12 answer scripts. Instead of physically evaluating answer booklets, examiners assessed scanned copies of the sheets through an online platform.
The system was introduced to improve transparency, speed up evaluation, reduce manual handling of papers, and ensure greater consistency in marking.
The board is expected to soon announce details regarding re-evaluation, verification of marks, photocopies of answer sheets, and compartment examinations. Students have been advised to regularly check official CBSE platforms for updates.
