After a discouraging performance in the HSLC results , announced recently , the Darrang district of Assam has performed extremely well in the overall performance in the higher secondary final examinations, results of which has been announced on Thursday.
Even though Pallabi Das of Brilliant Academy, Mangaldai is the lone candidate from the district to bag a position (10th in Commerce) in the State in regards of all the three streams, the district has recorded an average success performance above 90 per cent in each of the streams.

According to the reports from AHSEC, in Arts steam the district stood second in the list of successful districts of the State with a pass percentage of 85.98 per cent behind Dhemaji against the State success average of 74.68 per cent in the stream.
Similarly in the Science stream also, the district bagged the second position in Assam with an average success rate of 91.24 per cent marginally behind Hailakandi and against the State aggregate of 85.74 per cent.
On the other hand in Commerce, the district has recorded a pass percentage of 90.17 per cent against the State average success rate of 84.64 per cent and stood fifth in the list of districts of the State.
Meanwhile, the news of Pallabi Das securing tenth position in the State has made the conscious circle of the district delighted.
Pallabi, a student of Brilliant Academy Junior College, Mangaldai bagged the position with a total of 456 marks and letter marks in all the subjects.
Daughter of Samiran Ch Das and Reva Karmakar Das, both employees of the State Government and residents of Ward no-4 , Mangaldai, Pallabi while talking to Northeast Now gave credit to her teachers and parents for her outstanding performance.
Pallabi will now join Guwahati Commerce College in B.Com to pursue her further studies either to become a Chartered Accountant or a college teacher.
When Pallabi was celebrating her rank in the State, her college mate Himol Jyoti Das and his teachers were frustrated to miss the tenth rank in the Arts stream just by a single mark.
Himol scored a total of 475 marks against the tenth state rank holders securing 476.
