The Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training (DECT), Government of Assam to set up and operate ITI Golaghat in the name of ITI Golaghat-NRL Centre of Excellence.
This was stated in a press communique issued by Priyanka Hazarika, Assistant manager, Corporate Communications, NRL.
The agreement was signed between CGM (HR) in charge, NRL, Debashish Choudhury and Director (DECT) Rituraj Bora at NRL Corporate Office, Guwahati on Wednesday in presence of Sr.CCM(Corporate Affairs) AK Bhattacharya and officials from NRL and DECT.
As per the MoA, the State will hand over the existing infrastructure of ITI, Golaghat complex to NRL on long-term lease basis for developing the existing ITI into a Centre of Excellence.
The institute shall offer approved courses to facilitate the youths of Assam and other northeastern States to improve their skills and thereby enhance their employability prospects particularly in the Industrial sector including hydrocarbon sector.
Under its CSR project Uttoran, NRL has already been providing skill development training to hundreds of local youths in various skills like cutting and tailoring, welding, nursing, paramedical courses, weaving, hospitality management, commercial automobile maintenance, CNC operation, fitter, geriatric home health care and Panchakarma Ayurveda over the years.
This initiative is in furtherance to the nationwide Skill India Mission of the government of India.
