Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi who visited Gauhati University on Wednesday held meeting and called upon the University fraternity to intensify its continued efforts in churning out pool of more human resources to be able to contribute to the growth of the State.

Governor Prof Mukhi after attending the university chaired a meeting with the faculty members, officers, employees and students and requested them to work more resolutely to help and guide more youth to reach to the pinnacle of success.

Interacting with the faculty and students, Prof Mukhi also said that the role of Gauhati University has become more important because the youth educated in the university can be honed to utilize their services to the overall development of the State.

The Governor also asked the stakeholders to contribute immensely for the growth of the university.

Governor Prof Mukhi took stock of academic atmosphere and the respective problems of each of the stakeholders of the university.

He also welcomed suggestions from the students and faculty members for positive growth of the University.

Earlier Prof Mukhi upon arrival paid a visit to the aquaculture and bio-diversity centre of the university where he saw a wide range of scientific fish rearing facility established at the centre which he said can immensely help the fish farming sector in the State.

He also visited the commerce and the chemistry department and expressed satisfaction upon interaction with the faculties of the department.

He also paid a visit to Vice Chancellor’s office and took stock of the academic and administrative affairs of the University.

He also took stock of the progress of infrastructural development of the University.

Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, Dr Mridul Hazarika briefed him about the University’s future plan in academic and infrastructural aspect.
