Established in 1868, the second Assamese medium school in Lower Assam, the Prithiram Government HS & MP School in Goalpara, gears up to wrap up the celebration of the completion of 150 years during a closing ceremony to start in the second week of next month.
Grand and colourful programmes have been lined up in this regard by the celebration committee.
Scheduled to begin on November 9, the programme will continue up to November 11.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has consented to attend the open session as the chief guest on November 11, the concluding day. The programme is scheduled to begin at 2 pm.
A souvenir, titled ‘PRITHIVIDHARA’, will be released highlighting the history and heritage of the school during the British and independent India era. Cultural procession, display of crackers, cultural nights, get-together of new and old students, felicitation of ‘Gems of the school’ are some other programmes on the card.
Canada resident alumnus of the school Partho Pratim Choudhury has already consented to set up a digital library keeping in view of the occasion. Other star alumni like internationally acclaimed actor Adil Hussain, two present Deputy Commissioners Thaneswar Malakar and Kamal Kr. Baishya and thousand of others have appealed to their batch-mates to be present and make it a grand gala.
