A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Engineering Council of India (ECI) and Bineswar Brahma Engineering College(BBEC) in Kokrajhar on Saturday.

With the signing of the MoU, BBEC emerged as the nodal centre across the northeastern for building educational environment.

Dr PR Swarup, Director General of CIDC, attended the programme as the chief guest.

The programme was also attended by several academicians and students.

The programme emphasised to create skill empowerment among unemployed in the region.

Dr Swarup, Director General of Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), New Delhi visited Bineswar Brahma Engineering College, Kokrajhar for enabling and enhancing capacity building of the institute and help to promote Institute Social Responsibility.

Dr Medalson Ronghang took lead in defining the roadmap of technical education for the next level by mapping in national scenario.

The Engineers Day was also also celebrated in BBEC in memory of M Visvesvaraya, the icon and legend of engineering industry.

Apart from Dr Swarup, the programme was also attended by Capt. Rishabh Verma, Sikh Regiment of Indian Army, Subhas Upadhyaya, Relation Manager, ICT Academy, Assistant Executive Engineers Er. Brahma and Assistant Engineer Er. Ahmed from Public Health Engineering, Assam, Kokrajhar TE and representatives from various colleges across Assam.

Representatives from Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat, Assam Don Bosco University, Guwahati, Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar also participated the event.

Under the provision of the MoU, CIDC, which is the apex organization established by Government of India, shall jointly conduct a skill development program for unemployed youth of the region, under sponsorship of Airport Authority of India (AAI) as a part of their CSR obligation.

Engineering Council of India which is the leading guild of 32 engineering institutions such as IE, IETE,ICE, etc. along with AICTE, Ministry of HRD and others, also initiated & inaugurated the first ECI chapter in NE Region in BBEC Campus.

Prof Medalson Ronghang, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering Department of BBEC Kokrajhar has been nominated as the chief coordinator for NE Region for ECI.

Apart from offering internship programmes to the engineering students of BBEC Kokrajhar, it is planned that drone flying training programme shall also be conducted for the students of BBEC, improving their professional competence and also enhancing their employment potentials.

It is also announced that ECI will train the team for green rating, skill testing and certification, quality assurance of RMC plants and aquifer recharging.
