Guwahati: A high-level delegation from Bhutan, comprising senior officials from the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Royal Bhutanese Consulate General, visited Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Azara, on Monday (May 13).
The visit marked the beginning of academic collaboration between Girijananda Chowdhury University and the Royal Government of Bhutan.

The visiting delegation included Ambassador Tshwang Chophel Dorji, Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, Bhutan, Sonam Wangdi, Deputy Chief Program Officer at the Department of Education Programme, Consul General H.E. Jigme Thinlye Namgyal and Consul Phurpa Shering.
They were accompanied by Suren Pradhan, Principal of Ugyentse Primary School and 12 teachers from Bhutan.
During their tour of the university campus, the delegation made a visit to the departments and research facilities.

The officials also had a fruitful meeting with the Hon’ble Chancellor, Prof. Jayanta Deka, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kandarpa Das, Registrar, Prof. Dipankar Saha, Deans of various schools of the Girijananda Chowdhury University and representatives from the SSA society Sujata Chowdhury and Kunki Chowdhury.
During the meeting, the potential for active collaboration between the government of Bhutan and Girijananda Chowdhury University was deliberated for academic alliance and exchange programmes.
