In order to make the daily market in the Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Ltd (BVFCL) complex clean, the BVFCL authority has started a cleanliness drive in the market area.

It may be mentioned that four months back, a devastating fire gutted 32 shops in the daily market of the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Ltd after which the shops were shifted; however, the fish market side in the area was used by many as a dumping ground. The locals demanded that the daily market area be cleaned to create a clean environment in the area.

In order to clean the daily market area of BVFCL, on Sunday, from 10 in the morning, a special cleanliness drive was launched by the BVFCL authorities under the leadership of BVFCL Chief Administrative Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.

Talking to Northeast Now, BVFCL Chief Administrative Officer Bhattacharjee said, “In order to make the daily market area clean and create a hygienic environment so that the people, who visit this market complex, which is the only marketing complex for the people engaged in three PSUs in Namrup and also for other people in Namrup, can feel a smell-free environment, we have carried out this cleanliness drive.”

The initiative of the BVFCL authorities to clean up the daily market area, where all the people in Namrup go for marketing, has been lauded by the locals.

It may be mentioned that four months back, 32 shops of the daily market were burnt to ashes due to fire caused due to electric short circuit. Fire fighters from BVFCL, OIL and APL were deployed to bring the situation under control.
