Guwahati: Food delivery major Zomato has increased the platform fee it charges users to Rs 14.90 per order (pre-GST), up from Rs 12.50 earlier, according to details on its app on Friday.

The latest revision marks a Rs 2.40 increase and applies across all markets where the company operates, people familiar with the matter said. Zomato had last revised its platform fee in September 2025.

Rival Swiggy currently charges a platform fee of Rs 14.99 per order, inclusive of GST, placing it broadly in line with Zomatoโ€™s revised pricing.

Magicpin, the third-largest player in the food delivery segment, has opted not to follow suit for now. The company continues to charge Rs 14.20 per order and indicated it would maintain current rates despite rising operational pressures.

โ€œAt a time when the food delivery ecosystem is navigating a tough phase with rising costs, we have consciously decided not to increase our platform fee to support our restaurant partners and keep food delivery accessible for customers,โ€ said Anshoo Sharma, CEO and co-founder of magicpin.

The increase by Zomato is expected to make online food ordering marginally more expensive for users nationwide, particularly as it comes amid broader cost pressures.

Industry observers point to rising crude oil prices, driven in part by ongoing tensions in West Asia, as a key factor likely to push up delivery costs. Higher fuel expenses directly impact last-mile logistics, a major cost component for food delivery platforms.

With demand holding steady but margins under strain, pricing adjustments such as platform fee hikes are increasingly being used by aggregators to offset operational costs.
