Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) S Gopalakrishnan said that Northeast needs improvement in internet connectivity.

He was addressing a Special Plenary session for the startups organised by CII.

“In the 25 years last India has gone from 600 billion dollars to 2.5 trillion dollars economy, per capita income has also seen a growth of 5 times,” reported Economic Times quoting Gopalakrishnan.

“India will soon become a middle-income level country with an average income of 5000 dollars per household,” he added.

The CII chairman further said that quality of life is the main issue in several cities across India and in search of a better living, people move out from Tier-II cities to Tier-I cities.

“The migration of people from one city to the other creates disproportionate in the development which affects the quality of life,” he further said.

He added that inclusive growth is required for the proper development of each city.

“In order to fully leverage the technology Industry needs to upgrade the skills of its people”, he said adding that entrepreneurs need to update themselves with the latest technology.

“In order to leverage the technology in Northeast, improvement in internet connectivity is a must,” the CII chairman added.

Adding that CII has committees and councils for assisting entrepreneurs in getting proper training and skill development, Gopalakrishnan said that a collective impetus from people, government and industries are required to achieve the same.
