Guwahati airport is set to become operational for 24 hours from March 25. Apart from Guwahati, Raipur, Patna, Ranchi will also have flights operating 24 hours a day.

Guwahati airport will also get a new terminal building very soon. Currently only 30 airports in the country have 24 hour facilities, out of the 125 run by Airports Authority of India.

The AAI is also working on the modernization of the current terminals and airports and the strengthening of Runways. AAI will start developing airports under the regional connectivity scheme to make flying more affordable.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is preparing to commence mega projects of new terminal buildings at 14 aerodromes this year. Five airports/terminal buildings are to be ready this year. They are Jharsuguda in Odisha, Tezu (Arunachal Pradesh), Calicut (Kerala), Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) and Pakyong (Sikkim).

New terminal building projects to start this year will be at Guwahati, Leh, Patna, Trichy, Vijayawada, Jabalpur, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Srinagar Pune, Lucknow, Mangalore, Dehradun and Jaipur.
