Guwahati: G. Ramesh Kumar has assumed charge as Chief General Manager of the Assam Regional Office of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
Kumar, who took charge on June 22, holds a postgraduate degree in Agriculture (Agronomy) and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He has also completed advanced programmes in financial management, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, blockchain and fintech.
Before his posting in Assam, Kumar headed NABARD’s Business Operations vertical for more than four years. He has also served as Chief Financial Officer of NABSAMRUDDHI Finance, a NABARD subsidiary, and as Vice President of NABCONS, the bank’s consultancy arm.
With more than three decades of experience in banking and finance, Kumar has worked in areas including rural and development banking, project and corporate debt financing, credit planning and rural infrastructure.
His experience also includes initiatives related to climate-resilient natural resource management, energy projects and credit linkage for Joint Liability Groups, Self-Help Groups, Farmer Producer Organisations and micro-credit federations.
