Tinsukia: Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda remained silent when questioned about the poor state of healthcare facilities in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Monday.
As Nadda stepped down from the stage after addressing a public rally and proceeded towards his vehicle, this correspondent asked him three times: โSir, the condition of hospitals in Tinsukia is very poor. What do you have to say, Sir?โ
However, the Union Minister entered his vehicle without responding and left the venue. Local reporters, ANI, PTI, and district media were present, anticipating that he would address the press.
Nadda was in Tinsukia to campaign in support of BJP candidate Rupesh Gowala from the Doomdooma constituency.
The issue of healthcare in Tinsukia has recently gained attention after Congress candidate Durga Bhumij highlighted the poor condition of hospitals in the district.
Recurring reports have pointed to severe shortcomings in the regionโs public health system, including an acute shortage of doctors, unresponsive 108 ambulance services, insufficient beds, poor cleanliness, inadequate medical equipment, non-availability of emergency medicines, and a lack of paramedical staff.
Polling in Assam will be held in a single phase on April 9, 2026, with vote counting scheduled for May 4, 2026.
