Guwahati: Repolling is underway on Saturday, April 11, at a polling station in Assamโs Sribhumi district (Karimganj North) after complaints of irregularities and unrest during polling held earlier on April 9.
Balloting resumed at 7 am at the Babyland English High School centre, where voters began arriving to cast their votes amid tight security.
The decision to conduct voting again was taken after disruptions at the booth during the previous polling triggered tension and raised doubts about the fairness of the process.
Election officials said the repeat polling was necessary to maintain the credibility of the election and to ensure that the process remains transparent and impartial.
Additional security forces have been stationed at the location to keep the situation under control and allow voters to participate without disturbance.
People in the area expressed support for holding the repoll, saying it would help ensure a more accurate reflection of voter choice and strengthen the fairness of the electoral process.
