Assam elections Digboi constituency
The JMM, supported by the Jai Bharat Party, has intensified its campaign in the constituency in support of its candidate, Bharat Nayak.

Digboi: Political activity is increasing in Assam’s 84 No. Digboi Legislative Assembly Constituency ahead of the upcoming elections, with Buridihing Mouza emerging as a key area of focus for both the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The JMM, supported by the Jai Bharat Party, has intensified its campaign in the constituency in support of its candidate, Bharat Nayak.

A rally is scheduled to be held on April 4 at the Pengaree Tea Garden playground, which will be addressed by Kalpana Soren. The event is part of the party’s outreach efforts among tea garden workers and other sections of the electorate.

Earlier, on April 1, Hemant Soren addressed a rally at Bogapani Tea Estate in Digboi in support of the candidate.

Observers note that the involvement of senior leaders from Jharkhand indicates the party’s focus on Buridihing Mouza. The area has an electorate of around 54,000 voters out of the constituency’s total of approximately 1.47 lakh, with a significant presence of tea garden workers.

The campaign includes the slogan “This time, a government of rights”, focusing on issues such as labour rights, economic concerns and governance.

Political observers state that the increased campaigning and mobilisation efforts may influence voter preferences in the constituency. They also note that the electoral contest could develop into a close competition between the JMM and the BJP.

With campaigning continuing ahead of the April 9 assembly election, Buridihing Mouza remains an important area in the overall electoral dynamics of the Digboi constituency.
