Dibrugarh: The tea city of Dibrugarh came to a standstill on Monday evening as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led a massive roadshow, reinforcing the BJPโ€™s campaign in upper Assam ahead of the upcoming polls.

The event saw thousands of supporters line the streets, waving saffron flags and chanting slogans as the Chief Ministerโ€™s convoy wound through the city.

The roadshow began near the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation office on AT Road, with CM Sarma standing atop a specially decorated vehicle alongside Prasanta Phukan, a four-time MLA and the stateโ€™s Power Minister, who is the BJPโ€™s candidate from the constituency.

The procession snaked through key thoroughfares, including Red Cross Road, KC Gogoi Road, and the busy Thana Chariali, before concluding at RKB Road. Throughout the route, the Chief Minister waved to the crowds, acknowledged their cheers, and paused several times to accept traditional gamosas from enthusiastic locals.

Addressing supporters during the march, CM Sarma spoke of the unbreakable bond between Dibrugarh and the BJP, crediting Phukanโ€™s decades of service for the constituencyโ€™s transformation. โ€œThe ocean of people I see here today sends a clear message that the journey of development will continue,โ€ he said, adding that Assam has progressed on every front under his government.

Framing the election as a referendum on the BJPโ€™s record, the Chief Minister highlighted the partyโ€™s development agenda and the momentum of the โ€œdouble-engineโ€ government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and his administration in the state.

The roadshow is expected to provide a significant boost to the BJPโ€™s campaign in its final stretch, as the party seeks to consolidate its hold on one of its strongest strongholds in upper Assam.
