Dibrugarh: BJP MLA and state Power Minister Prasanta Phukan campaigned in areas with a significant Bengali population in Assamโs Dibrugarh on Sunday, addressing two rallies in the Gangapara and Naliapool areas, where the community has historically played a role in electoral outcomes.
The back-to-back rallies saw participation from members of the Bengali community. With the Dibrugarh Assembly seat set to go to polls on April 9, the campaign focused on outreach in key areas.
Addressing the gatherings, Phukan referred to the BJP government’s development record and the impact of the double-engine government on infrastructure, welfare delivery, and law and order across Assam.
“Dibrugarh has changed. You can see it in the roads, in the schemes that have reached your doorstep, in the safety and stability our government has brought. This change is possible because we have the same government working for you in Dispur and in Delhi,” Phukan said, urging residents to back the BJP once again.
Phukan, who has represented the Dibrugarh seat for four consecutive terms, is the BJP candidate from the constituency in the upcoming election.
