Gauhati University Assam is inviting applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the govt job of Project Personnel in the project titled “Mainstreaming invasive fish species management and biosecurity in aquatic ecosystem-dependent sectors of the North Eastern region of India” in 2026 under Prof. Dandadhar Sarma (Co-PI of the Project), Department of Zoology.

Monthly Emoluments :
Rs.37,000/-+ HRA as per NMHS norms for candidates qualified CSIR/UGC NET, GATE, or any other national level examination
Or
Candidates not falling into the above category will be paid Rs. 24,000/- + HRA per month as per the NMHS norms in the name of JPF.
Essential Qualification :
Master’s degree with minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Zoology/ Wildlife Science or Equivalent degree in relevant subject from a UGC recognized University.
Desirable :
1. Minimum 6-12 months of research experience in conducting field Surveys/Conservation genetics.
2. Experience in field sampling (fish collection, water & eDNA sampling etc.)
3. Basic laboratory skills (sample preservation, DNA extraction, PCR, Fish taxonomy, ecology and invasive species etc.).
4. Knowledge of data entry and documentation
5. Willingness to navel extensively in Northeast India
Job Roles :
The candidates will be required to conduct field surveys in the NES to collect data on fishes, lab work in coordination with Partners Institute. Candidates will also assist in data entry, data analysis, article & and report writing, and undertake any other tasks assigned
by the PI under the project.

Essential Qualification : Bachelor’s degree in Zoology/ Life Sciences/ Wildlife Sciences from recognized university with minimum 50% marks. Master degree in Zoology/ Life Sciences/ Wildlife Science with minimum of 60% marks will get preference
Job Roles : Technical assistant will carry out tasks both on and off the field to facilitate the
smooth conduct of the project under the guidance of the RA & PI.
