Rakesh Tikait, leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) said that the BKU will not extend any support to any political party in the upcoming assembly elections scheduled in five states.

Tikait said, “We will not support anyone in this election.”

Takait made the statement after Naresh Tikait, BKU president had urged people to support the Rashtriya Lok Dal-Samajwadi Party alliance.

Rakesh Tikait said that the union was deliberated on the problems faced by the farmers.

Rakesh Tikait further said the farmers were disappointed against the government regarding the promises that were made for the farmers. He was that promises were left unfulfilled.

He added that during the farmers’ agitation, the government promised them a committee to look into the situation but to date, the committee has not been formed.

He claimed that following the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, several members of the agitation were sent to jail but the MoS Ajay Kumar Mishra is still holding his post.
