Agrochemicals firm Dhanuka Agritech Ltd has donated Rs 11 lakh to flood-hit Meghalaya. The agrochemicals firm contributed the amount to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on Friday.
A Dhanuka Agritech Ltd official handed over a cheque of Rs 11 lakh to Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma in Shillong.
Chief minister Sangma has expressed his gratitude for making the donation to the flood relief fund of the state for welfare of the flood-hit people.
“Thank you Dhanuka Agritech Limited for contributing ?11 lakh towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” Sangma said in a tweet.
Earlier on Wednesday, Star Cement and Tiger Cement donated Rs 25 lakh and Rs 7.05 lakh respectively towards chief minister’s relief fund
Around 1.55 lakh people have been affected in the flood in the past week in Meghalaya and at least eight people have lost their lives.
Meghalaya home minister James K Sangma said that the deluge has displaced over 1 lakh people in the state.
Calling the flood situation a national disaster, chief minister Conrad Sangma had said that he had appealed to the federal government for help and hoped relief funds to flow in soon.
