The second wave of flash flood has hit the Siang valley in Arunachal Pradesh and bordering district of Dhemaji in North Assam as the region has witnessed heavy downpour for the last couple of days.
Incessant shower for the last three days has been affecting normal life of the local residents and creating hardship to the commuters.
Rainwaters also filled the low-lying areas and inundated human habitats at Pasighat, Ruksin in Arunachal Pradesh and Jonai in Assam.

Rivers and perennial streams of Siang region are swelling due to heavy rains in the upper reaches of Arunachal’s hill areas and created floods in the Assam-Arunachal boundary area.
Surging water of Lali river submerged four villages in Kobu chapori char of Jonai revenue circle in Dhemaji district (Assam).

Flood waters of the swelling river also entered into riverine villages of Bera Chapori area under Bahir-Jonai panchayat and causing problem to the residents.
Overflowing water of Jonai and Sille rivers destroyed the standing paddy crops and vegetable gardens and other plantations on its both sides at Torajan and Mohmara areas leaving a trail of devastation.

As such, overflowing waters of Lali river have inundated many villages of Rayang Bijoypur, Gali Siga and Ramdhon panchayats under Jonai revenue circle through the breached dyke at Mudoi Debera portion.
The second wave of flash flood in Dhemaji district has affected about 22, 6628 people of 51 villages.
In Jonai sub-division, flash floods have affected 42 villages including Kobu Chapori char and Bahir-Jonai area.
More than 500 acres cropland in the district has been inundated in the flash flood so far, according to a report of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Dhemaji.
However, no casualty of loss of livestock has been reported in the flash flood so far.
India Meteorological Department’s latest data released through its Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) at Guwahati has predicted ‘Enhanced Rainfall Activity’ over northeastern states during the next three days.
The IMD report predicts continuation of widespread rainfall activity across Northeastern states during the next two days (up to July 12).
Siang river in Arunachal, which supplies plenty of water to mighty Brahmaputra in downstream Assam, has touched the danger mark at Pasighat while water in the Brahmaputra is flowing close to the danger level at Dibrugarh and Dhola (Tinsukia) on Monday morning, according to Water Resource department.
