Russia will soon be witness to an amalgam of India’s classical dances performed to Bhupen Hazarika’s songs sung in the classical language Sanskrit.
Renowned Bharatnatyam artist Elora Bora will be performing the Sattriya and Bharat Natyam at ‘Servas‘, in different places of Russia to Sanskrit versions of Bhupen Hazarika’s songs which have been translated and sung by Ranjan Bezbaruah of Nagaon.
Servas is an international cultural exchange programme organized by the South Asian Fraternity from July 14 onwards.
Elora is the founder of Nritya Kalakshetra, a dance institution in Nagaon and also a senior student of Rukmini Devi Arundale’s ‘Kalakshetra’ at Chennai.
Flutist Pranjal Borah’s music of these Sanskritized Bhupen Hazarika’s songs such as ‘Ganga’, ‘Sagar Sangamat’, ‘Moi Eti Jajabor’, ‘Manuhe Manuhor Babe’, ‘Gum Gum Meghe Gorojile’ etc have been gaining popularity throughout the country.
