Two government schools of Sikkim are in the top 100 Innovators under NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission.
Namchi Government Senior Secondary School, South Sikkim in Agritech category and Yangang Government Senior Secondary School, South Sikkim in Waste Management category have been selected in Top 100 entries by NITI Aayog.
Realising the need to create scientific temper and cultivate the spirit of curiosity and innovation among young minds, the Government of India has setup the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) through which eligible Schools develop Atal Tinkering Laboratory (ATL).
ATL is a work space where young minds can give shape to their ideas through hands on do-it-yourself mode and learn / develop innovation skills and Young children will get a chance to work with tools and equipment to understand what, how and why aspects of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
Till date 27 ATLs have been established in various government schools in the State under Atal Innovation Mission.
Subsequently a Nationwide Atal Tinkering Marathon for 2018 was conducted under the aegis of Atal Innovation Mission (AIM).
The Atal Tinkering Marathon for 2018 saw a total of 1405 entries in the country in different categories.
Out of 1405 entries, the top 100 entries have been selected by NITI Aayog, which includes two schools from Sikkim.
