Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal met a 12-member United States (US) delegation of the Professional Fellows Program Outbound 2019 in Guwahati on Tuesday.
While interacting with the delegation, Sonowal apprised them on Assam’s heritage and development initiatives under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The chief minister discussed about the prospects of facilitating an environment for investment and rapid industrialization of the state through Act East Policy.
He also spoke about the recent developments undertaken in enhancing connectivity to the state through roadways, airways and waterways.

He also discussed about the prospects of constructing twin towers in Guwahati for attracting big companies in the state.

Sonowal told the delegation that consular offices of Bangladesh and Bhutan have been opened in the state due to the efforts of the central government in developing the northeastern region of India.
Moreover, the government officials present at the meeting also discussed about various developmental initiatives of the state.
Under the Professional Fellows Program Outbound 2019, eleven participants from across the country visit USA twice every year for six weeks in order to exchange ideas and learn about governance and policy making.
Moreover, participants from US also visit India every year with the same motive of exchanging ideas and learning about governance system and society.
Apart from Guwahati, the US delegation visited Delhi, Lucknow and Shillong this year.
