A senior theatre artiste and litterateur of Sikkim, Dhurba Lohagun will be conferred with the prestigious Bhanu Puraskar 2019.

He hails from Naya Bazaar in West Sikkim and has huge contribution towards the development of Nepali language and literature through his works in theatre and writings.

The award will be presented n the occasion of the 205th birth anniversary celebration of Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta on July 13 next in Gangtok.

A press release of Nepali Sahitya Parishad (NSP) Sikkim stated that NSP has been confering the prestigious Bhanu Puraskar since 1985 to litterateurs of Sikkim for their sustainable contributions towards Nepali language and literature.

It also added that NSP has been choosing awardees on the basis of its new rules and process since 2013 to give more importance and prestige to the award.

The release informed that on the basis of the recommendation from two committees in two different stages, NSP has decided to confer the prestigious Bhanu Puraskar 2019 to a senior theatre artiste, story writer, lyricist and poet, Dhurva Lohagun.

Lohagun was born to Chabilal Lohagun and Ganesh Maya Lohogun of Naya Bazaar in West Sikkim and has huge contribution towards the development of Nepali language and literature.

Lohagun has published eight books in different areas of Nepali writing and already proved his talent in the theatre and story writings for film, the release informed.

The award carries a shawl, certificate, Tamra Patra and a cash award.
