Actor and social worker from Assam’s Nalbari district Dilip Kumar Das has brought laurels to the state as he has been honoured with the prestigious Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Award on Sunday.
The award was presented to Das by Samata Sahitya Academy, a national organisation.
Das was honoured at the National Samata Conference 2019 held in Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim.
The prestigious award was presented to Das by Bhutan education and development minister Thakur S Powdyel.
Sikkim human services and family welfare minister Mani Kumar Sharma and many other eminent personalities were present in the award ceremony.
Das has been bestowed with the award for his noble social services like providing financial help to the poor students of Assam.
He has also played a significant role in his contribution as an actor.
Samata Sahitya Academy honours personalities for their enormous contributions in various fields like literature, social work, art, sports, singing and classical dance by presenting different awards.
