Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) president and former chief minister Pawan Chamling has written a letter to the people of Sikkim apprehending lawlessness and mis-governance in coming days.
Chamling is presently in New Delhi and will be returning in a few days.
In his letter, Chamling wrote, “My dear people of Sikkim, our state at present is going through a tough time of transition. Our peace and security, which we so greatly valued and which we are so proud of, is under threat. We are getting to witness lawlessness and turmoil that were unheard of in the last 25 years. These are testing times for all of us, and we have to overcome it unitedly. I’m with my beloved ‘Sikkimey Janta’ forever fighting for their rights; and you too have to be with us to protect our security and pride of being Sikkimese.”
“I am sure our mothers and sisters will agree with me that we always protected your homes, your daughters, husbands and sons. We ensured that none of them had to suffer any form of violence. Rule of law formed the very base of our governance. Our women folk should therefore be ready to fight for Sikkim and be our co-partners in bringing back the dignity and honour of Sikkim,” he added.
Chamling further wrote, “Presently, I am in Delhi and I have already met the Prime Minister and Home Minister, apprising them about the situation in Sikkim. I am happy to share with you that they gave a very positive response. I will be in Delhi for a few more days, calling on other political party leaders. Once I am back to the State, I will be visiting different constituencies, meeting and interacting with them. Till then take care and stay safe. I am with you. I am for you forever.”
