Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday made a review of the four-laning works of national highways going on in Sonitpur district.
During the review, the Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over slow progress of four-laning works of National Highways in the district. The chief minister further instructed the general manager of NHIDCL Rajiv Sharma to take necessary action and terminate contracts of all non-performing contractors at the earliest.
He also instructed the general manager to take necessary steps for carrying out maintenance works on the roads till the next contract is awarded.
Moreover, the chief minister also instructed the executive engineer, PWD (NH), Nagaon division to expedite the construction works on the national highway from Tezpur to Kaliabor and take up necessary repairing on the stretch from Mission Chariali to Jamuguri.
After reviewing the air connectivity at Tezpur airport with the Airport director, the chief minister said he would instruct the authorities concerned to take appropriate steps to increase the number of regular flights to and from Tezpur and improve air travel facilities for the people.
The chief minister was accompanied by Sonitpur deputy commissioner Narsing Pawar; chairman of ATPPCL, Rajen Borthakur and Borsola MLA Ganesh Limbu.
